5 Ways To Kill Fear And Restart Your Life At 40
"Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." – Yoda
At 40, sometimes you wake up and wonder what life holds for you.
This fear is constant and greets you every morning.
At 40, a man feels he is timing out especially when he wakes up and sees that his kids are growing by the day.
He wonders what legacy he will leave for the children and grandchildren.
I woke up this morning, and as my sons came to greet me, I noticed that they were gradually turning into men.
This is both exciting to see and a reminder that I need to do more before they get into Higher Institutions (which will demand more money) and after which they become men.
Men who are under 40 are also under pressure to ensure that they don’t turn out as fools at 40….we are all feeling the pressure.
The good news is that we are all still alive to either reinvent ourselves or focus on only the 20% that produces the money in the bank.
We must not allow ourselves to fall into the trap of thinking we are failures or helpless.
The human mind is the powerhouse, the engine that produces our physical reality, if fear captures it, it will destroy the rest of our lives.
Here Are 5 Ways I Am Reinventing Myself After 40
1- Fight My Fears
Fear cripples a man. It can disable you and render you useless for the rest of your life. "Each of us must confront our fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it."
– Judy Blume
I have decided to head towards my fear and fight it to stand still. When you feel you can’t do something, look yourself in the mirror and say “Yes I f..king CAN!” and go out and take action to prove to yourself that you can.
Most times, our imaginations create this impression of inability or lack because we have not used actions to force us to imagine new things.
Action speaks louder than voice.
2- Try To Save More Than I Make
Money-making tips are something one can’t get enough of. We all need money education.
I have discovered that most times, the case is not that we don’t make enough money, it is that we can’t keep enough from the little we make.
Most of the time, we live a life we can’t afford thereby eating our future.
From the little, save something even if it is just 10%. This 10% when compounded can change your life.
A man who earns $5000 monthly but has three wives who gave him 3 kids each will never save as much as a cleaner who earns $1500 monthly but has no wife and kids.
Most times it is not a revenue problem, it is a spending problem. Spend less to free up cash to save.
3- Invest More
If you want to leave something tangible for your children or at least give them a quality education, saving money alone CAN NOT do the magic.
“Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world; he who understands it earns it, he who doesn’t pays it.’’
Albert Einstein, World Known Physicist.
You must put your money to work. After working for your money, you must make your money work for you by investing in real estate, shares, or cryptocurrency, no matter how little. The magic is in the compounded interest, not the immediate result.
The lesson I have learned after participating actively in the Cryptocurrency bull run is that what makes the huge difference is when you get in, not just what you are getting into.
Those who bought Bitcoins at $1 with just $100 and held till at least $10,000 before selling are all millionaires today. Buy when everyone is afraid, sell when everyone gets greedy. That’s a secret from a great investor, Warren Buffet.
4- Show Your Children The Best Of You
When you are gone, the only thing no one can take away from your children about you is the memories of the moments you had with them….whether good or bad.
This is one aspect of parenting that is like an investment, whatever you do will bear fruits. If you are abusive or evil around them, that is the legacy you have invested in.
No matter what, show your children the best of you. Even if the rest of the world sees you as Lucifer incarnate, they will see you as an Angel. This is the seed no one else but you have to sow in their lives.
5- Owe No Man Nothing
A freeman owes no one. Live according to your means. Teach this to your children too. It will make them more free to express themselves.
A debtor’s opinion is not valued.
Conclusion
At 40 years old, you must sit down and ask yourself serious questions. Take stock of the last 40 years on earth and ask yourself if you are on the right path.
Make moves to right your wrongs or solidify your success. Never, ever tell yourself it is too late to start again because it is not.
Better late than never.
